Shane Gillis has made comedy history.

With 76,212 tickets sold for his July 17 show at Lincoln Financial Field, the stadium home of the Philadelphia Eagles, Gillis has broken the Guinness World Record for most tickets sold for a comedy show by a solo comedian.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Andy Glass verified the official ticket sales figures and confirmed the record to Variety.

When he takes the stage, Gillis is poised to break a separate Guinness World Record for largest audience for a comedian, which will be determined by the verified attendance count inside the stadium. That record is currently held by Mario Barth, who performed for 67,733 people at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 12, 2008. Gillis’ ticket sales indicate he will exceed that number. (Gabriel Iglesias and Jo Koy attempted to beat the record in 2025 with their joint show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium.)

Popular on Variety

Gillis’ tickets sold record is a new title opened by Guinness World Records, with a minimum to beat of 54,000. (While the organization had previously tracked attendance records, the ticket count was not considered as a separate feat.) Naomi Watanabe holds the record for most tickets sold for a comedy show by a solo female comedian. The Japanese comic and actress sold 44,356 tickets for her set at the Tokyo Dome on Feb 11, 2026.

The record is a full-circle moment for Gillis, who grew up in Pennsylvania and is often seen wearing Eagles gear. The stadium show is, obviously, the largest of his career, capping off a wildly successful tour for the comedian, who recently hosted Netflix’s “Roast of Kevin Hart.”

Across more than 100 headline shows over the past two years, Gillis has sold more than 1 million tickets, setting 34 venue attendance and ticket sales records along the way. At Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Gillis sold more tickets than any other live event in the arena’s history. And he set all-time attendance records at the Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, San Francisco’s Chase Center and Tucson’s Tucson Arena.
