Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Nifty fell 58 points to close at 25,227, while the Nifty Bank index recovered from the day’s lows to finish 15 points higher at 56,625. The broader market outperformed slightly, with the Nifty Midcap index gaining 65 points to end at 58,762.
Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Domestic markets ended mixed on Monday (October 13) but staged a sharp recovery from early losses, helped by positive global cues and buying in select heavyweights. After a volatile session, the Nifty managed to hold above the 25,200 mark, while the Sensex settled 174 points lower at 82,327.
Auto stocks traded largely in the green, tracking positive vehicle registration trends, with Bajaj Auto emerging as one of the top gainers. Adani Ports continued to attract buying interest and ended as the top Nifty gainer. Insurance stocks rebounded sharply, with Max Financial leading the recovery. Exchange stocks also saw strong traction, as BSE and MCX surged around 4% each. Among midcaps, KFin Technologies rallied 7% after a positive brokerage note.
In the power sector, Torrent Power gained nearly 3% following the Power Ministry’s draft electricity bill, while Fortis Healthcare extended its rally, rising another 3% to take its October gains to about 13%. HDFC AMC climbed 3% ahead of its board meeting to consider a potential bonus issue. Muthoot Finance continued its upmove, supported by rising gold prices.
On the downside, Vodafone Idea dropped 4% after the Supreme Court deferred the AGR hearing to October 27. Avenue Supermarts fell 3% as its second-quarter results came in below market expectations.
