Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Benchmark indices staged a sharp recovery from the day’s lows to end near the flatline, even as broader markets remained under pressure. The Sensex rose 77 points to close at 75,315, while the Nifty ended 6 points higher at 23,650.
Nifty Bank slipped 173 points to 53,537, while the Midcap index fell 93 points to 60,474. Market breadth remained weak, with the NSE advance-decline ratio at 1:3 in favour of declines.
The rupee hit a fresh record low of 96.39 against the US dollar intraday.
Among stocks, Gland Pharma surged 15% after reporting strong March quarter results, with net profit rising over 86% year-on-year. Hindustan Copper gained 2% after posting a 58% jump in revenue, while Tata Steel fell over 3% despite strong quarterly earnings.
ICICI Prudential Life Insurance declined 4% after promoter Prudential plc announced plans to pare stake in the insurer.
Nifty IT extended gains for a second straight session, with all constituents ending higher.
