Blue skies ahead

- Azur Promilia is the upcoming successor to Azur Lane
- Eschewing the high-seas action in favour of a new fantasy world
- Battle monsters and tame beasties to help serve at your base or support you in battle
Azur Lane has been a big hit for developer Manjuu, even spawning its own spinoff merchandise and anime series. Little surprise then that there’s a groundswell of interest in a potential successor, although whether or not Azur Promilia will measure up entirely depends on if it’s what you would’ve expected to succeed Azur Lane.
A newly-released trailer gives us a much greater idea of what to expect from Azur Promilia. Set in a fantasy world this third-person real-time RPG sees you pitted against all manner of nasty beasties, including some which you can draw to your side via the use of Starlink.
Yes, there’s more than a bit of Palworld (and it’s various emulators) about this according to the trailer, as you can set your newly tamed creatures to work in the fields of forging new equipment for you. Or, of course, you can just bring them into battle to support you!
Feeling blue
Azur Promilia is certainly drastically different to Azur Lane, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your position. Good in the sense that it shows Manjuu experimenting and not deciding to stick to the same topic. Bad in the sense that fans who’ve been waiting for something which expanded on the world and characters they’ve come to be familiar with might be disappointed.
At the same time, a glance at Azur Promilia promises an entirely fresh direction for Manjuu regardless. And with what looks to be quite a lot of content stuffed in, it’s well worth watching for when it releases. If you’re interested, you can pre-register now on the official site.
Or, if you can’t wait you can always tide yourself over by digging into our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week! Featuring all the best launches from the last seven days.
